Aviation and airplanes have come a long way since the Wright brothers first took to the air in 1903. To see a sample of the man-made flying marvels, Cherokee Lodge Condominiums urges Smoky Mountain guests to visit the Tennessee Museum of Aviation.
Located next door to the Gatlinburg Pigeon Forge Airport, the Pigeon Forge museum features an awe-inspiring variety of vintage aircrafts, jet and radial engines, cockpits and military vehicles. Included in the collection is a World War II “Thunderbolts.” With only a dozen air-ready models left in the world, aviation enthusiasts will be excited to see this piece of history in action.
Another perk at the 35,000 square-foot Pigeon Museum, because of its close proximity to the airport, guests never know which of the vintage aircraft will be hosting a demonstration during their visit. With the constant rotation of aircrafts and displays, the Pigeon Forge museum promised exciting and unique memories every visit for years to come.
Tour times depend greatly on guests’ level of interest, but museum staff does urge guests to allot at least an hour and a half for the museum exhibits. After strolling around the display of aircrafts, be sure to stop by the gift shop to pick up a souvenir of your fun-filled visit to this Pigeon Forge museum.
Hours for the Pigeon Forge museum are 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. Monday-Saturday, and 1-6 p.m. on Sundays. Admission is $12.75 for adults, $9.75 for seniors, $6.75 for children ages 6-12 and free for children five and under. Plan on coming back to the Smoky Mountains? The Tennessee Museum of Aviation also offers annual memberships for guests to enjoy the exhibits time after time.
