The American Cancer Society Relay for Life will take place from June 1st at 2 pm until June 2nd at 2 pm in Patriot Park in Sevierville, TN, just a few minutes north of the Gaitlin-Pigeon Forge Airport. While contestants camp out in the event facility, family members are encouraged to rent accommodations in nearby areas, and Pigeon Forge condos provide a comfortable and convenient option.
Contestants will take turns walking around the track for 24 hours, while family members can enjoy food, games and activities and take part in fundraising. The entire community is invited to participate, creating one of the largest gatherings in the Pigeon Forge events area.
Relay for Life asks those who have suffered from cancer, as well as their friends and family, to share stories while raising money to help bring an end to this disease. Awards will be given to teams who raise the most money, and participants not actively participating in the relay will be encouraged to use their time fundraising.
The event will begin with the opening ceremonies, moving into the survivor lap, where cancer survivors will kick off the relay. Next, caregivers will be recognized with a lap around the track, before all participants will follow with a lap. The Luminaria ceremony follows, honoring all those who have lost their battles to cancer. Finally, the Fight Back lap will bring awareness to the importance of cancer research, treatment, and prevention, as well as the importance of cancer education. Finally, individuals will continue to walk around the track for the rest of the night, into the morning and finishing up in the early afternoon.
Participants are encouraged to rent Pigeon Forge condos for the remainder of their stay, enjoying activities, restaurants in the area and experiencing other Pigeon Forge events.
